Jane graduated as a mining engineer
As one of the first women to enter the male domain of underground coal mining, Jane went on to become an explosives expert training others in Australia and overseas. In this role Jane learnt the fine art of risk minimisation, a skill she would later apply when building her own portfolio.
The program focused on Jane Slack-Smith, the girl from the bush, who soon became the first woman qualified to run an open cut coal mine in New South Wales.
Awarded the Churchill Fellowship
Jane started building a multi-million dollar property investment portfolio
She built this portfolio by renovating properties to quickly gain equity and increase rental yield.
Named in the inaugural 'Who’s Who of Australian Women'
Jane was recognised for her contribution to the industry by being named in the inaugural 'Who’s Who of Australian Women'. She continues to be named over the subsequent years.
Begins her media commentator journey
Jane begins making TV and print appearances. This includes Sky TV, Australian Property Investor magazine, Your Investment Property magazine and Smart Investor magazine as a monthly industry expert. She also is now sought after by Money magazine, The Australian Financial Review and BRW magazine for her comments. She also became a regular speaker at HIA Homeshow and Property and Investment Shows around the country.
Began running investment and renovation courses around Australia
Jane was making a name for herself as one of Australia’s top investment renovation experts.
Awarded the Australian Mortgage broker of the Year
Jane was awarded the Australian Mortgage broker of the Year as polled by the Your Investment Property magazine.

Money magazine named Jane “One of Australia’s top ten finance experts”. Jane has well and truly made her mark and is now a recognised commentator in the field of property investment. Qantas magazine named her one of the 4 main financial influencers of Australians along with Paul Clitheroe, John Simmons and Scott Pape (The Barefoot Investor).
Founded Your Property Success
Her primary goal for starting Investors Choice Mortgages in 2005 was to share her experience in building and growing a sustainable property portfolio using low-risk techniques. Finally, in 2011 Your Property Success Pty Ltd was born with the primary purpose of teaching this online step-by-step framework to help homeowners and investors buy the right property at the right price.
