MEET RUSSELL, WHO MADE $70,000 ON HIS FIRST INVESTMENT. Not Bad Huh?

Jane Slack-smith1 Russell Burndt is one of my mentoring clients. The 49 year old father of 2 from Whittlesea, that made over $70,000 in 16 days on his first investment property project.

Now $70,000 in 16 days is impressive... but what’s significant about Russell’s story is before this he was paralysed by inaction... for 25 years prior this large windfall!

Yes 25 years had ticked by as Russell was dreaming about a bigger future and not taking action.

He would go to open house inspections and auctions, then always being disappointed because it all just seemed to risky. He admits himself, he lived in fear of losing everything that he had already worked so hard for and so never got in the market.

In 2014 Russell made the decision to join to dive in and join one of my more expensive coaching programs - something had clicked...

“I said enough is enough...we have to do something and we have to do it now”

Russell said in a recent interview.

“We have read all the books, been to the free seminars, done everything but we just didn’t commit... Now that I know what I know, I don’t know why I didn’t do this 20 years ago! Everything that we had done before was free, until we did your course and coaching and then it just changed everything.”

When in the recent magazine interview he was asked to describe his first property this is what Russell Said “Well, we spent $8,300 over 16 days and we made $70,000 profit, which is about $8 profit for every dollar we spent. So I think that’s pretty good for a first time investor!”

“But we haven’t stopped there either. It’s got a really ugly brick cladding out the back so once we remove that and then repaint the weatherboards out the back we could probably get it revalued at $50,000 more.” “So we are looking at over $100,000 profit in under a year, so not too bad.”

SO WHAT HAD CHANGED FOR RUSSELL?

What was it that moved him from being held back by fearful for 25 years, to buying his first investment property and making $70,000 in 16 days?

In Russell’s words “The thing that has made the biggest difference is the education and advice and surrounding ourselves with the right people. I actually found the process quite easy and I don’t know what I was so scared of.”

It seems he had a lot of the information already, but he wasn’t taking the right actions, because he felt he need a guide, a mentor to help in the right direction. Someone to give a gentle nudge while holding his hand to ensure he doesn’t make a bad decision.

We all make mistakes and that’s okay, it’s human nature. However there is no reason why you should suffer the same costly mistakes that I did and most people do when starting out.

Russell went on to say “If I wasn’t in Jane’s Master Mind Group then I wouldn’t have been able to do any of this. We bounce things off each other and the ideas that come out of it are incredible.”

Now I’m not going to sugar coat it, when you do get started it’s not all Roses and Champagne, you do need to put in the work and that’s what separates the people that have multi-million dollar portfolios and those that are still just dreaming about it.
